Bridal Season is here. Are you Ready?

Bridal Season is almost here.  Weddings are being planned daily.  There is so much that goes into planning a wedding, and the hair can almost be an after thought, but for us stylist it's the most important.

So how do you go about picking a salon for your big day?  If your local talk to your stylist about the type of  hair style you'd be interested in.  If your wedding is out of town, you might rely on recommendations from friends or family or ask the venue or hotel for recommendations. Many times they have a salon or stylist that they work with regularly

There are a few things to consider before deciding on the hair.  First what style is the dress?  Is it strapless, V-neck,Sweet Heart shape, or a trendy one strap.  You want to make sure that you hair will add balance to your over all appearance.  If your dress has a lot of intricate detail then don't choose a hair style that has a lot going on.  You don't want your hair to compete with the beauty of the dress.  If your unsure of what style would work best with your dress,  then ask your stylist for her/his recommendations.  Show her/him pictures of the dress and not just in the magazine or on the rack.  We need to see an actual picture of you in the dress so we can best help quide you to your dream style.

Another thing to consider is the location of the wedding.  Is your dream wedding  on the beach, a formal indoor wedding, in a park, a backyard or is it a destination wedding.  If you've decided to have your wedding anywhere outdoors, of course the weather is the main consideration for your hair.

Be sure you keep a close eye on the weather forecast and have a back up plan for your hair as just in case you should need it. Are you wanting a sleek style or something soft and romantic?  Your hair should also reflect the type of venue you've chosen.

Now that you've chose the man, the day, the place, the dress, the bridal hair, you still have to make a few more decisions.  What do you want your bridesmaids hair to look like.  Remember we DO NOT want their hair to out shine the brides, so it's very important to be clear about their hair and your expectations.  Yes, you do want them happy but remember it's YOUR wedding day!

Now that we've taken care of
you and your bridesmaids, what about the mothers and grandmothers.  Make sure you discuss with them what your expectations are for them.  Mom's and G-ma's want to shine to, but having some in-put from the bride can be a very helpful experience.  So share with them styles that you would love on them. If they're not on board with the suggestions, no worries, it's your big day.  Remember, enjoy it, no matter what!

What about your hair at the reception?  Are you having a wardrobe/hairstyle change?  Be sure you discuss the wedding reception expectations as well with your stylist.  Is your reception a formal sit down dinner or is it going to be a dancing blow out?  Either way we want your hair to last!

Now just a couple of more things that will make your stylist life easier and your experience a great one.  Book your appointments well in advanced.  In the months prior to the wedding talk to your colorist about any changes you might make with you hair color.  We don't like to do major changes before a special event  Be sure that you have pictures and a clear idea about your style.  If your having your hair done for pictures the price is usually the same.  It takes the same amount of time to do a practice as it does the real deal, so don't cut corners.  Make sure you book a run through within a week of your wedding.  If you do a practice run months a head of time your stylist may not remember all the details.  And a very important detail that some brides forget,  wash your hair the night before, put product in it and dry it. When you show up at the salon make sure you are wearing a button down shirt.  We want to use all our available time to make you look beautiful.  Your time crunch can cause havoc on our schedules, so please arrive on time.   Don't forget the veil or any accessories.  We are more than happy to assist in any way we can on your special day.   And last..   Don't forget to breath!  This is your day! Have fun with it!
