Are you considering jumping into the Fashion Color Arena? Here a few things to consider before taking the plunge.
Fashion Colors are all the rage and
they're here to stay, but there are a lot of things to consider before you
jump into the fashion color arena. Here a list of some of the things you should
take into consideration before deciding to do fashion colors.
. One of the first thing to realize is
that you have to be blonde in order to have fashion color, so the health
of your hair has to be considered.
At the very least your hair should be lightened to a dark
blonde. Anytime your hair is
lightened that means damage.
Damaged hair does not hold color, so if your going to invest in
fashion color, please also invest in the products that are recommended for
your hair. It really will make a
difference in the life of your color.
Speaking of the life of your color ,
Fashion colors ARE high maintenance.
These types of colors are considered 'Direct Dyes' and are
TEMPORARY colors and even with proper care they only last 4 to 6
weeks. Pastel colors have an even
shorter life span of 1 to 2 weeks.
In order to get the longest wear out of your color, follow the
recommendation of your colorist. We
recommend Olaplex both in the salon and for your at home maintenance, and always
use cold water when shampooing.
It's also very important during the summer months to stay away from
chlorine. Chlorine will strip the direct dyes out of your hair.
If your hair is virgin and
dark or if it's ever been colored dark, it's important to remember that it
may take multiple
appointments. Your hair has
to go through stages to achieve the level of lightness that you need for
your fashion color. If your already
blond, no problem we can pop in the
color of your choice. Regardless of
whether your dark or blonde, we'll keep your hair in great shape with in
between appointments to keep your color fresh
Expect to be in the salon a
while. This is not a 'quick'
fix. First the previous color has
to be extracted from the hair, that may take multiple lightening session, applying color, cutting and drying. Also any in-between conditioning
sessions to keep your hair healthy.
Depending on the color and condition of your hair it may take
anywhere from 3 to 8+ hours, so plan your time accordingly.
It's not cheap to have
Fashion Hair. Lots of steps = lots
of $$$. A major transformation
means a lot of time and money for your stylist, so remember, in this
instance, you get what you pay for. Make sure your stylist does a thorough
consultation and discuss how much you are willing to spend, so you can set
and plan and a set of expectations that are realistic.
